It's been unquestioned authority for years. Most of the people in the National Weight Control Registry do it. Almost all diets recommend it. Yet there are those who say the correlation of eating breakfast to losing weight is not causation.
In other words, eating breakfast or not has nothing to do with successful weight loss or maintenance.
But what do you think? What's your experience with breakfast?

It makes sense that having breakfast could help with weight loss. After all, if you wake up hungry and eat nothing, you can get to a point where you get so hungry any weight loss plan goes out the window. However, I think this is a matter of scheduling and personal wellness, like so much else about exercise, weight loss, and health in general. I work some overnight shifts at my work, and sometimes thus have my "breakfast" before going to bed. Then when I wake up, I often don't eat anything right away.
It probably matters what you eat for breakfast, too. If "breakfast" is a huge doughnut, you're better off skipping it.
Recently, I changed my breakfast. The husband and I found some soy yogurt I can have. However, it's more calories than I felt comfortable with having if I also ate cereal. So I've been taking two bananas and at least eight strawberries, cutting them up, and spreading the yogurt over the whole thing. (Note: lemon yogurt does NOT appear to work very well with this breakfast.) It's satisfying, and I feel good that I came up with a solution that I like and doesn't cause me to go over my calorie limit.
140 on the scale this morning. The sun is shining, Easter should be in the 70s and sunny (so should I wear love beads?), and the birds are shrieking their heads off wanting to wander under the couch and lay eggs.
How are you doing? How are you enjoying Spring (or summer)? The floor is yours.
