And you don't think these Republicans aren't dangerously crazy?! With each passing day they demonstrate just how crazy they are and just how far they'll go to protect the Oligarchs and industries that fund their campaigns.
Colorado has been on the front line of pushing back the powerful oil and gas industry that doesn't give a frack about the communities they invade with their drills and chemicals. Several communities passed local anti-fracking legislation in last year's elections. Of course the oil/gas industry immediately started dragging these small communities through the courts with suits that tried to overturn the election results.
It turns out that Jared Polis, U.S. Representative from CO is a very wealthy person (dot com wealth) and is helping to get initiatives on the ballot that would make sure local communities would be able to control their own future.
So what does Colorado GOP chairman Ryan think about Jared Polis' efforts?
Oh, but wait. This isn't just another lose Republican nutcase going off on a Democrat, to satisfy his fossil fuel masters. If you don't think this is a big part of the Republican party, you better think again. Here's what
Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg, R-Sterling chimed in with":
"I am amazed that Democrats in the legislature are following along like a flock of sheep," said Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg, R-Sterling. "We hope Colorado is paying attention — Polis' jihad against responsible energy development is reckless, and the Democrats under the Gold Dome are committed accomplices."
I've heard several people say they won't vote because voting "against" something isn't good enough. I happen to think it's a damn good reason to vote, and if the Bush years, the voter suppression laws, the legalized bribery from the SCOTUS, the future deaths of thousands who have been denied Medicaid..., if this isn't reason enough to get out and vote and drag your neighbor with you, you just might need to come back to the real world.
