The Georgia open primary is in less than two weeks. There is a lovely bunch of coconuts running to replace our dearly beloved Saxby (I smeared Max Cleland) Chambliss. Should we progressives cross and vote for any of these characters? I think so, because I would like to see Michelle Nunn have a fighting chance. Sadly my favorite, Paul Broun, 'straight from the pit of hell guy' is lagging way behind. I'm torn between voting against Perdue or voting against Handel. Perdue is the sanest of the bunch, but Handel has ladyparts which might be an edge against Nunn. Here's a very brief intro of the candidates. Kossacks, what say should my friends and I do?
BTW, there are no competitive Democratic primaries. There is likely to be a runoff, and you can't vote in it unless you vote in the first one
Frontrunner: David Perdue, sanest of the bunch and first cousin of Sonny who was elected governor, proceeded to convince enough of the Democratic state legislators to change parties to flip the state bodies.
He'll have the backing to sell himself with millions from his own personal coffers. And politics runs in the family of former Gov. Sonny Perdue's first cousin. But Perdue, of Sea Island,
Second: Karen Handel, known for her anti-public education stances and a brief but ghastly reign as Secretary of State. Has the endorsements of Saint Sarah and Jan Brewer, no less. Tea Party favorite
she had a highly publicized falling out with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation over its support for Planned Parenthood, which provides abortions
Also running:
Phil Gingrey: currnently running an ad featuring a mother who lost her son in Afghanistan about how much of a help he was to her.
Foes have pounced upon his verbal missteps, including saying that women who are raped would have a tough time conceiving and his contention at a closed-door House Republican meeting that he is "stuck here making $172,000 a year" while staffers could make far more lobbying, and thus should not be worried about losing employer health benefits.
Jack Kingston: currently running an ad featuring his lovely children sitting around the kitchen table bragging about how cheap he is
While he entered the race declaring that he will "not be outflanked on the right," Kingston has had to defend his tenure, which at times does not pass purity tests for outside conservative groups or tea party enthusiasts.

Paul Broun: physician and who can forget the picture of him in the room full of dead deer.
He says he votes according to the Constitution and the Bible. He frequently calls President Barack Obama a communist and once said evolution and the Big Bang Theory are "lies from the pit of hell."
there are two others, Art Garner and Derrick Grayson. The block quotes from www.ajc.com/thinglinks Sorry, I can't get the link to take.
Getting together with some progressive friends this weekend and would like some input to share. Note: there's likely to be a runoff, but you have to vote in the first to vote in the runoff. There are no competitive Democratic issues this time around
