This is why I have stopped listening to and reading most of the MSM in the US.
NBC and ABC's Sunday news shows turned to discredited architects of the Iraq War to opine on the appropriate U.S. response to growing violence in Iraq, without acknowledging their history of deceit and faulty predictions
Then again one only has to remember the MSM basically cheering on the the preemptive illegal invasion and all the breathless bullshit emanating from "embedded" journalists to see how effing useless they are.
Many of us remember being against both of these wars, when we called the administration a pack of lying warmongers we either totally ignored or branded Un-American and possibly traitors. No fly lists were created on the back of any resistance.
We were very much in the minority then, some 70 to 80% cheered it on
Most of our elected officials cheered it on with the Iraq Resolution
House 297 for 133 against
Senate 77 for 23 against
Lets go back a bit and look what the liars got away with saying without the MSM even questioning the veracity.
"Liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk." – Kenneth Adelman, a member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, Feb. 13, 2002
The time has come for decisive action to eliminate the threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. … Saddam Hussein’s regime is a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally Israel.” - Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C
“If left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well, effects American security.” – Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., addressing the U.S. Senate, Oct. 10, 2002
My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." –Vice President Dick Cheney, "Meet the Press," March 16, 2003
"Ladies and gentlemen, these are not assertions. These are facts, corroborated by many sources, some of them sources of the intelligence services of other countries." –Secretary of State Colin Powell, testifying about Iraq's chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons capabilities before the United Nations Security Council, Feb. 5, 2003
"It's a slam-dunk case!" –CIA Director George Tenet, discussing WMD and the case for war during a meeting in the Oval Office, Dec. 21, 2002
"I am not going to give you a number for it because it's not my business to do intelligent work." --Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld,
"Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties." —President Bush, discussing the Iraq war with Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson
03/27/2003, Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Defense Secretary
"There’s a lot of money to pay for this ... the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years…We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon.”
[the war in Iraq] "could have terrifically good effects troughout the Middle East"
Bill Kristol September 18, 2002 column
Not one of the blowhards ever discussed what the mission was and how the hell we could get out of it, although many said they regretted something or other, or how they had the wool pulled over their eyes.
In reality few questions were asked.
Then we tortured.
Then we failed to prosecute the liars and war criminals.
Now we are expected to listen to the same bullshitters yet again?
Now it is President Obama's fault for getting out of a completely fucked up conflict that was never thought through.
Give me a break and please MSM stop consulting the same clowns that you talked to last time. You fell for the necon dream last time around, how about taking a big step backwards this time and start asking some serious questions to those who spurred and cheered on the war in the first place.
