Received this e-mail today from State Senator Jason Carter's (D. GA) gubernatorial campaign:
Three million dollars.
That's how much Georgia taxpayers will now pay for the cover-up of the investigation into Gov. Deal's campaign.
People lost their jobs. Some were investigating Gov. Deal's campaign. Others refused to participate in the cover-up. And they blew the whistle to expose the misconduct.
Who's to blame? Well, if you ask Gov. Deal, it's the whistleblowers themselves.
Seriously.
He just doubled down on his call to silence whistleblowers, telling reporters he wants to limit who in state government can receive protection when they report waste, fraud and abuse.
Well, Gov. Deal, we have a message for you: Whistleblowers aren't the problem. Your cover-up is.
The latest settlements may spare Gov. Deal more embarassing public trials. But voters still have a chance to hold him accountable this November.
More people need to hear about how Gov. Deal is abusing his office. We can only do that with your help. Please contribute $25, $50 or more at http://www.carterforgovernor.com/... to help us hold Gov. Deal accountable.
Best,
McGrath
