Fox, apparently explaining why Republicans have really high hopes for 2016:
Well, sure. The Republican candidate has won more electoral college votes in nine of the last 17 elections. Of course, if you're going to go back that far in history, the only reason you'd stop then is if you didn't want to count FDR's four victories, which doesn't make any sense.
On the other hand, if you're just trying to show that Republicans have demonstrated they can win national elections ... well, you probably shouldn't give them credit for 2000, when they only managed to win because the U.S. Supreme Court handed them victory. If you're interested in electoral analysis, you've got to count 2000 as a Democratic victory—Al Gore got more votes than Bush. And that means Democrats have won five of the last six.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton will make it six of the last seven, and at the rate the GOP is going, it's going to be an awful long time before that trend ends. But hey, if dumb Chyrons give the GOP false hope, who am I to complain? It just means the 2016 primary season will be that much more entertaining.
