Right after the "sauced" remark Christie said, "I read something in one of the stories that this was host community relations."
I'm not sure if that has a specific legalize meaning relative to the GW Bridge and Fort Lee or not.
I just caught this tonight reading jamess diary
But I have searched Google and I see no "story" related to the GWB, refering to "host community relations" other than Christie's quote.
Here's the two comments in context"
“I didn’t even know Fort Lee had three dedicated lanes until all this stuff happened, and I think we should review that entire policy. Because I don’t know why Fort Lee needs three dedicated lanes to tell you the truth and I never knew it until this whole happening came about. My urging to the Port Authority would be to review that whole policy. I sat in that traffic, before I was governor, at the George Washington Bridge. And the fact that one town has three lanes dedicated to it? That kind of gets me sauced.
But I do believe and I told Chairman Samson this, that we should look at this. One lane maybe. Three lanes? I don’t quite get it. I read something in one of the stories that this was host community relations. I mean what’s gonna happen if they get a little bit upset? Are they gonna move the bridge?”
I have no specific comments to make since I can't determine if there is a specific usage of that phrase that has some implications on Bridgegate.
But it does seem to be a lie that Christie read a story including that phrase.
It does sound like another snotty crack about FL/Sokolich from the Christie mafia, and its Don no less.
It does add to the appearance that Christie already had a full grown "attitude" about either FL and/or Mayor Sokolich going into the first press conference.
Which leaves the matter of what was the motivation really.
Was it a hike in tolls like Christie's office claims?
Or was that a cover story for a move to try to disassociate the construction project from Fort Lee and Mayor Sokolich and jamess, Kornacki, Maddow, and others have implied?
As Deep Throat said "Follow the money." Had Bernstein done that completely they would have continued investigating the illegal off shore money laundering of CREEP and likely the RNC, which probably continues to this day. But that is a Gate of another color.
In politics Follow The Money.
