DKos readers,
May I respectfully ask any and all the following question ? Just what the f$&k
is going on with these Senate races over the last 2-3 weeks ? It seems lately there's
been a dearth of public polling showing most, if not all, of the toss-up seats with Dems
ahead or even tied. Combine that with beltway hacks like the gang at thehill.com, Charlie Cook, Stu Rothenberg, NY Times, and even non-hacks like Nate Silver predicting that
Senate Dems are totally screwed and could lose 8-9 seats, well more than what the R's
need to crown Mitch McConnell king of the Senate.
You'll have to pardon my naïveté, but is it really possible that voters will swarm the polls
this November to elect candidates from a party held in such flagrantly low esteem
as the Republicans now seem to be ? And is it possible that with most voters clearly
siding with President Obama and National Dems on Minimum Wage, Citizens United,
Women's Reproductive Rights, Economic Fairness and the moderate success of
The ACA , that R's still sweep the field ? Am I missing something here ? Is the President
really that unpopular ? And what of the vaunted Bannock Street Project led by Sen.
Michael Bennett ? How and why isn't the DSCC on the air in every toss-up state
hammering every wing-nut Republican candidate ? In an article published a few days
ago in thehill.com, beltway hack/Conservadem extraordinaire Brent Budovsky said that
unless Senate Democrats find a way to hold their majority, the War On Women will have
been truly lost. Nice to see that Mr. Budovsky really believes that the W.O.W. is real,
even though I find his Centrist politics odious, Budovsky provides some sage advice.
First, panic now !! Nothing concentrates the mind like raw fear.
Second, get HRC, First Lady Michelle Obama and Senator Warren as a combined attack squad everywhere on the campaign trail, like yesterday !
Third & finally, make it clear to American women nation-wide what's at stake and what will be lost with a Republican majority. Not sure about the Panic now ! Part of his counsel but
I guess Budovsky is on to something. I find it nearly unfathomable that voters will buy a crappy product from a party that should be in bankruptcy if not receivership.
What say you, fellow DKos readers ? An overreaction on my part or are Dems headed
for a crushing debacle come November ?
