It is a bold new argument--being human, but the Republicans nonetheless, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make the case that they themselves are people too, just like the Democrats. What could possibly go wrong? Especially given how easy it should be to win the case that people born of the same mothers are the same species. So, out came the new video complete with new hashtag (quickly hijacked). And so the hilarity began.
Warning, this video is NOT satire (or is it?).
More below the thingie and the graphic with the hasttag.
I found my way to the ensuing hilarity here:

“On social media, I’ve been called every name in the book,” Minchillo told New Republic. “It’s become socially acceptable to talk about Republicans in the most evil terms possible and that doesn’t seem right. We wanted to do this to really remind people that Republicans are friends, neighbors and do things that maybe you wouldn’t expect them to do.”

In seriousness, in my extensive circle of siblings, cousins, etc., there are Republicans aplenty. They would have made better models than the stock photos in the video frankly. They are the nicest, loving people. We all experience this on some front. What we also know is that they are not the same as the Republicans in politics. The ad wants us to conflate our families or coworkers with the political machine run by oligarchs and corporate interests. No wonder cyberspace filled with laughter and derision.
