With Mark Herring's win the State Attorney General's race it created an open State Senate race in a district that has been carried by the Democrats in the last two Presidential and the last Governor's Race very easily. It has been well documented on this site on the performance of Team Blue in an off year election and it's not real good. So follow below the fold for some important information.
The State Senate Race in District 33 is set for tomorrow January 21st and just to make things more interesting it is a three way race between the Democrat Jennifer Wexton, whose ads have drawn the ire of the GOP, Former Republican State Rep Joe May who is running as an independent and was defeated at a convention by the tea party, and lastly the GOP nominee John Whitebeck who made some inappropriate comments at a Cuccinelli rally during the election. In this election it is a majority rules system, in other words a winner can get 35% of the vote and win. May is well known and could get some traction especially in a low turn out election which this could be. With the State Senate at 20-19 pending the result of the Special Election to replace Ralph Northam who won Lt. Governor you know how important this election is to get the State Senate into the hands of Team Blue. Now if that isn't enough here is more to add on.

This is a link to a Winter Storm Watch in Loudoun which makes up about 70% of the district, the other 30 resides in Fairfax which also is under a watch. So off year election and a really bad snow storm, hope you get the picture.
So if you know anyone in the 33rd district area, call them and tell them to vote in the morning, snow is suppose to start early morning around 5 to 6AM and get worse as we approach the PM commute. Polls are open from 6AM to 7PM. Loudoun has said that the election will go on even if schools are closed for the day. Have not heard from Fairfax. Here is a link to an article about the election that includes a map of the district.
