A decade ago Governor Craig Benson of NH invited the Free State Project to come to our state and take over our government and make us into a libertarian paradise, and even perhaps our own country! Some of us have been concerned about this, although the establishment has been not so worried.
Today a group of activists have published an amazing website with a dazzling array of information about this group. They told me:
this website has been created in order to provide an in-depth source of information on the extremist political movement known as the Free State Project - its ideology as well as its plans and actions to implement that ideology in New Hampshire. It is important for NH voters to have this information for the November elections - and beyond.
They know that there are members of this group who have served on local boards and commissions, and they have documented some of them. They also know that members of the FSP have been elected to the legislature and that more are running this year. Since the Free Staters (or Free Statists, as some call them) don't tell the voters of this affiliation, it takes a lot of work to track them down and out them. Most run as Republicans, but in some areas they run as Democrats. With 400 seats in the NH House, there are a lot of opportunities.
Part of the plan for this website is to provide a list of the candidates and information about them. It has been a long and hard piece of work and we could wish that it had been completed sooner, but it's just in time!
