Fortunately, I'm not one of the 600,000+ disenfranchised voters in Texas.
I am a fan of mockery
I am deeply progressive
Today, I voted early and exposed my confusion over the ID requirements
First, I presented my voter registration card
"Sorry, we'll need to see photo ID"
"Huh, it's always been good enough before. How about this Harris county property tax bill?"
"No sir. You'll have to show photo ID"
"Hmmm, here's an electric bill. No? How about this state issued hunting license? Not that either? I've got a federally issued pilot's license, will that do? No? How about this ACLU membership card? No, wait, that doesn't have my address--nevermind. Photo ID, you say? Well, I do have this driver's license, but you know they make fakes at the flea market that are pretty good....."
So I voted.
Wendy, of course. Letticia, certainly. Kim Ogg, yes.
But, in addition for voting for democrats in key and competitive races, there were a number of races where the democrat had no chance and you know who I voted for? The Green party candidate. Too many democrats are as much a part of the oligarchy as the republicans. You gotta vote your conscience at least some of the time.
