Mitch McConnell wants voters in Kentucky to know something important: That he's likable. Really, really likable. So, to demonstrate just how authentically likable he is, his political team decided to surround him with cute, lovable dogs in his campaign's newest ad:
The only thing is, that's not a bunch of dogs: That's one or two, copy and pasted over and over. Obviously, the goal was to make Mitch seem warm, but it instead produced a weird, unnatural effect—perhaps we could call it the
uncanine valley. On the bright side, at least Mitch didn't have to pay anyone to show enthusiasm: A handful of kibble is all it took.
