Ok, I'm not going to lie, tonight sucked. It really did and lord knows myself and several other great Kossacks here did everything they could to hold off the Republicans from taking the Senate and defeating Tea Party Governors. We're still waiting to see what happens in Alaska and of course how the runoff will play in Louisiana. There are also Governor races in Colorado, Massachusetts and Connecticut yet to call. The polling was all over the place and we underestimated the Republican wave. But the one race where the polling was consistent was in my home state of Pennsylvania and tonight, Pennsylvania voters made history:

Corbett’s loss is historic: Since Pennsylvania began allowing governors to seek two consecutive terms in 1970, every governor has won reelection. Corbett will be the first governor to serve only one term.
Corbett, the former state attorney general, won election over Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato (D) in 2010 by a nine-point margin. But his term got off to a rocky start almost from the beginning after revelations about Corbett’s investigation into former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
At a time when most states are generating big surpluses, Pennsylvania was running a deficit of about $1 billion. Corbett’s approval rating plummeted early in his tenure and never recovered.
Polls showed Wolf leading by double digits throughout the race. - Washington Post, 11/4/14
Wolf ended up defeating Corbett by ten points. Not bad at all. We may not have won the State Senate but Wolf is ready to get to work:

Governor-elect Tom Wolf has thanked Pennsylvania’s voters for giving him the opportunity and responsibility of becoming Pennsylvania’s new chief executive.
The Democrat spoke Tuesday night to election-night revelers at the Utz Arena in York, near Wolf’s hometown of Mount Wolf.
He said there’s a heavy responsibility on him now to get things done and he wants to re-establish education as a priority in Pennsylvania and deliver on the promise.
He also said it’s important to boost job creation, take advantage of natural resources and create an open and inclusive playing field for everybody in business. - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 11/4/14
Tonight sucked for sure but we should still celebrate this historic victory. I'm very proud of my home state tonight.
