I been asking myself a lot of questions over the past decade or two and some have included things like, How much is enough? I think that has been answered by the 1% with, it will never be enough, and oddly, taking it from where it comes I understand that.
What I don't understand is why are the 99% not in the streets? What does it take to get people off the the couch, get away from their keyboards and demand that the government work for them?
I have to wonder if we are in the stage of "bread and circuses" on the road to collapse of our empire. Are we that disengaged and entertained by the mundane that we can't see what is happening around us. We are on the cusp of a conservative utopia that is based on the principles ( the ones they like) of the 1789 Constitution. We are not going back to the "fifties" we are going back to the genesis of this country. A wealthy white man's utopia. With things like voting rights, civil rights, workers rights most likely being severely cut back or possibly even repealed. Where is the indignation of the masses? This is what bothers me the most. I expect the Republicans and the wealthy and the corporations to want everything for themselves, thats who they are. But, why are the rest of us constantly giving in and giving back. For the past 30 years or so workers have given back benefits, wages, working condition rules and for what to lose their jobs to outsourcing? What does it take to get us making demands for our rights and our rightful place in this country. I'm at a loss. How can we build a future for our children and grandchildren on a foundation of sand? I don't see a way forward and feel completely at a loss for the the first time in my life. Does anyone see a way forward?
