Pictures from Peru
Well it's not Sunday but I have been asked to guest host today. So I thought, I know, I'll post some pictures of our trip to Peru. It was the first trip we took after I retired; reasonable price and with a company I'd heard good things about, Overseas Adventure Travel. Maximum number of travelers in a group is 16.
Process to find photos: Where are they? On a disc somewhere. Find disc. My MacBook Air has no disc drive. Oh, yeah, 2 years ago I bought a USB SuperDrive. Still in the box. Open it up and plug it in, slip in disk. Makes a noise but nothing appears on screen. Initiate one hour of experimenting and messing around. Finally teeny photos appear but almost too small to see. How they get to IPhoto is still unknown but in a few days I'm sure all will be revealed. So I slid a few over to the desktop and I shall now attempt to post a few. The best ones are from Machu Picchu itself which was the peak of the trip and I hope i can remember what the others are.
We started in Lima which was built in that location because of sea access but the weather there is always bad. For years I've checked the weather report for Lima and it's virtually always cloudy and/or raining. Moving inland the weather got much better and we climbed in stages to 7972 feet above sea level where Machu Picchu is located. Perfect weather at the top. We toured one afternoon just as the mass of tourists were leaving and again the next morning on the first bus to the top.
No power tools, just patience.
Our "Shirley McLaine" moment at the top.
Our favorite hawk, who flew around to get in everyone's picture.
The view from the top. This is not photoshopped, taken with a point and shoot.
I have more photos but all of a sudden the Image Queue isn't working right, even though it was when I started the diary. Normally I would re-boot but there's no time so here we go, like it or not.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
