Wow. Just wow.
Poor Peyton Manning. Okay, yeah, so he's a Republican and he advertises for Papa John's, but wow. You have to feel bad for the guy.
He's one of the greatest, arguably THE greatest quarterbacks in nfl history, well, if it just weren't for that pesky postseason.
There were other quarterbacks that threw more picks than TDs in the superbowl, just ask Rich Gannon. Heck, even Terry Bradshaw did that. And HE walked away with a Lombardi AND the Superbowl MVP honors. Joe Namath got superbowl MVP and he threw more picks that TDs for his entire CAREER.
The truth is that Manning was let down. He was let down by a team that can melt down in a superbowl like none other. (See Superbowl XXII, Superbowl, XXIV). Yeah, Elway got a very unpleasant and familiar feeling just after Harvin ran back the second half kick-off.
How can a guy who is SO good not win more championships?
It boggles the mind.
Granted, his team didn't really help him much. When your returner decides to take it out of the endzone eight yards deep and gets nailed at the 12 and then your center throws it over your head and into the back of the end zone on the first friggin' play from scrimmage, well it's clear that your teammates have the superbowl jitters.
But still, just wow.
Poor Peyton Manning. 11 - 12 in the post season, 1 - 2 in Superbowls.
Even ELI has more rings.
He was NFL MVP FIVE friggin' times.
I know there are far more important things to worry about: Global warming, East Asian Nationalism, Republican obstruction, etc.
But you do have to kind of feel for Peyton Manning even so.
That was just an EPIC thrashing.
Oh, and Congratulations Seahawks fans. Some people might have picked you, but NOBODY saw THAT coming.
