It's decided. I'm running as Progressive candidate. I haven't much of a chance of winning, but I have plenty of chances to get my message out there to counter conservative feartalkers with positive upbeat can-do optimism. Somebody write me some campaign songs, so I can make a musical out of this!
A couple of nights ago I spent four hours of cut, paste, compose, and repeat, on the application for a DFA endorsement. They say I could win campaign funds or staff, too; pretty cool! I must admit, I was out of steam by the time I finished, so the last paragraph is a bit vague, but I'm well pleased with the whole. Their prompts teased a lot of detail out of me, and the answer suggestions kept me focused. By the end of it, I knew I wanted to run as a progressive, not just a Democrat. My campaign is going to be fun colors, fun events, fun videos, fun interviews, and lots of showing the constituency what a real lefty is!

I also have a little website, which I'll need to kick up a notch now that I've decided to show my colors: http://www.lauranicol.com
Last minute update: Battleground Texas has contacted me and I've agreed to host a phone bank Sunday afternoon. Holy cow this thing is happening!
