Speaking for the Editorial Board of the Star-Ledger, Tom Moran is getting frustrated with Governor Christie, and says Chris Christie is dodging these questions: Moran. Christie has not held a press conference since January 8, 2014, and "he scurries past (reporters) like a nervous squirrel, looking as miserable as a man can be."
Moran lists the major questions Christie is dodging:
Why didn’t you ask your deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelly, why she ordered the lane closures in the first place?
Moran wants to know why he he didn't first ask why she sent the email and who authorized it, and totally rejects as specious Christie's claim that he didn't want to interfere with a Federal investigation because he has now hired "the most expensive legal team in world history to investigate" and intimidate nearly every key witness in the case.
Moran says no one believes Bridget Kelly acted on her own.
What’s the real reason you fired your chief political operative, Bill Stepien?
How absurd is it that Christie wants us to believe he fired Stepien because he called Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich "an idiot?" Seriously, Christie, WTH?
Christie says:
"I was disturbed by the tone and the behavior and attitude, the callous indifference that was displayed in the emails," the governor said.
Give us a frigging break Christie. Moran notes Christie has used "more hostile and abusive language in public many times." Recent email disclosures prove Stepien knew of the lane closures when they occurred, and new that Mayor Sokolich thought they were acts of "political vengence."
Moran also wants to know if Christie still believes the lane closures were part of a traffic study, noting traffic studies these days are done by computers. But, David Wildstein and his many minions went to great lengths to keep their actions secret from executive director Patrick Foye, something that wouldn't be done in a real traffic study.
Moran answers another of his questions with a resounding "No!" That if Christie did not know what this many of his aides were up to he is not ready to be president of he United States.
Do you believe it is acceptable for David Samson, the chairman of the Port Authority, to vote on contracts that benefit his clients?
The Port Authority will never undergo the fumigation it needs while Samson is the chairman. So how deep does Christie’s loyalty to him go? If Samson pleads the Fifth Amendment and refuses to answer questions, should he step down then? What if evidence emerges that he knew of the lane closures as they occurred.
I can't tell if Moran is being sarcastic in his closing when he imagines that Christie really wishes he could get back in the ring and hash this out with reporters like he did in the old days. But, it is clear Moran is ready to get into the ring and is growing as frustrated as the rest of us with Governor Christie's stonewalling.
Governor Christie, "Tear down this wall, ... and build a bridge to the future." Answer these questions so we can all move on to dealing with the real problems of the people.
