Please stop.
Fox News host Heather Childers announced the University of Connecticut’s national championship on Tuesday by saying that the team was “NAACP champs.”
“The UConn Huskies are the 2014 NAACP national champs,” Childers remarked during the second hour of the Fox & Friends First morning show.
Astute readers will note that the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is not the same thing as the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), not by a stretch, but once you've passed three laters I suppose all the acronyms do tend to blend together.
This would just be a typical day in the ongoing horror that is Fox & Friends, the show that makes the entire rest of the Fox News lineup look like genuine rocket science, if it weren't for the unfortunate coincidence of Saturday Night Live lampooning Fox & Friends just last weekend with a sketch that included, yes, the fake hosts confusing those exact two groups.
So now we have to ask, once again, whether or not Fox News is just putting us on with this whole Fox & Friends show. Is it, in fact, an elaborate, carefully constructed satire of what news delivered by morons might look like? An extended, deliriously stubborn bit of performance art?
