In a disappointing move the Utah Supreme Court has ordered a temporary halt of several district judges' orders requiring the Utah Department of Health to issue birth certificates in same-sex parent adoptions.
The which was granted Friday night in response to a Utah Attorney General's Office request for clarity on whether the department can issue the birth certificates if directed by court order. The attorney general's office along with other anti-LGBT groups are happy with the decision. The Attorney General's Office is saying the stay will remain in effect until the issue has been resolved by the court.
As equality advances and gains victories state by state many of the opponents are using delay tactics, as was seen recently in Arkansas' marriage equality decision. My spouse and I were very happy to when the Arkansas marriage equality decision happened recently, to be able to get married without having to leave far from home is a wonderful feeling. But having said that these delay tactics although disappointing seem to be nothing but last ditch efforts to stop equality from advancing. But it's even worse that in this situation the opponents of equality would deny kids a loving home simply because of their own selfish views.
