Hi there -
I am up early on a Saturday morning and very bothered by the state of the world, thanks in large part to the following assholes and their disgusting comments.
No, seriously. Atrocious shit below, don't say you weren't warned.
First of all, there is this tremendous douchebag, Rep. Steve Hickey, a lawmaker from South Dakota, who wrote a sweet little letter to his local paper:
"Certainly there are board-certified doctors in our state who will attest to what seems self-evident to so many: gay sex is not good for the body or mind," Hickey writes in the letter, which he posted to his Facebook page. "Pardon a crude comparison but regarding men with men, we are talking about a one-way alley meant only for the garbage truck to go down. Frankly, I’d question the judgment of doctor who says it’s all fine."
...
SOMEONE ACTUALLY SAID THAT! THAT REALLY HAPPENED!
Jesus H. Christ sipping a martini and reading a Christopher Moore book on an airplane headed for Brazil, things are getting very strange up in here. Some of the news is so stunning in its audacity to disgust the average citizen that it's not to be believed. It cannot possibly be true, no way, it is simply too gross and icky.
Yeah. No one cares what you think.
Cliven Bundy's Tea Party, gun-loving thugs have taken over Bundy's entire Nevada town and are keeping its residents AND police staff essentially under lock and key. These scary militia dudes are setting up checkpoints to ask people about their comings and goings, have threatened hotel workers and police management, have issued bomb threats, have poured gasoline around news trucks, and now (check this out) are fighting amongst each other in an attempt to establish authority within the militia.
What's worse, the police are doing nothing about any of this because they are outmanned and outgunned. I am not even kidding.
At an emergency City Council meeting:
"I called Metro, and their exact words to me were, ‘It's the BLM and Cliven Bundy's problem,' - and I should take it up with one of those two. There are my children and my community, and if Metro doesn't have the guts to come out and protect us – what are you here for? What are we paying you guys for?" another attendee said.
Awesome. So glad the police are helping the Mesquite, Nevada community. Not.
This barbaric bastard is such an extreme version of sick that you'll need a barf bag nearby:
Pastor Steven L. Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona has drawn criticism for a sermon uploaded to YouTube on Sunday in which he makes the controversial statement: Women should remain silent in church.
Anderson refers to 1 Timothy 2:11 to establish his claim. "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection," he reads. "But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man."
Anderson then flips to 1 Corinthians chapter 14, saying, "Let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted unto them to speak."
...
I KNOW!!!!!
The money shot, however, is even better:
"First of all, it's not for a woman to be doing the preaching. And second of all, it's not for women to be speaking. Even if they were to have a question, they're not to ask that question in the church, number one. And number two, even if they wanted to ask questions of their husband, they should wait until they get home."
I would just like to point out that it is 2014, not 1952.
If you can stomach any of that and not feel the urge to vomit everywhere, then you are a stronger person than I. Unfortunately, I have the intestinal fortitude of an infant.
Now that I'm worried for the nation and the world, and I totally wanna keep my teenaged daughter in the house for the rest of her life, I suppose it's time for me to read about good, happy things that make me smile.
Like a video of someone getting run over by a car. That would be better than any of this horrible bullshit.
