Near the end of May, the news came from Kenya that the largest bull elephant in the Tsavo region had been killed by poachers. The international outrage at the poaching of Satao was enormous.
Today, good news from the Kenya Wildlife Service: the likely poachers have been arrested.
The news was printed in the Star newspaper. The story also includes information on a gun battle with other suspected poachers.
The international attention focused on Satao and elephant poaching in general has helped with this speedy arrest, I feel. There is the tiniest pinprick of light. Poaching of any species is a war on wildlife, but if we persevere in shaming the war-profiteers, we can win the war.
