It hardly seems like it's been that long, ten years and two days to be precise. I came here in the run-up to the reselection of Geedubya. I had been a regular poster on places like the Smirking Chimp since just after the selection of 2000. It was the summer of the Democratic convention, Daily Kos had split into the usual candidate factions and the typical pissing matches. Despite the disaster of Bush's first term and a consensus that the country could not withstand another four years of Bush, another election was about to be stolen from us.
In the ensuing ten years since June 2004, I was elected as a Democratic precinct committeeman, I joined in an anti-war protest and marched in Washington DC, I've changed jobs twice, built a new house and my oldest kid will be attending college in the fall.
I'll be celebrating my 60th trip around the sun on this beautiful blue orb at the end of the year.
I'm still worried as hell about what the future will bring for me and my family. To me this place is still an oasis of and reason in a desert of bullshit. I'm still in awe over the quality of people who come here day after day to speak their minds and show their hearts.
Thank You Kos and happy anniversary to me
