In 2010 the Supreme Court declared that corporations are people.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court declared that businesses can deny certain benefits for women based on the businesses religious beliefs. Consequently, if corporations are people; then people can deny certain things based on religious beliefs.
I am a person. I believe in the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." Do I now have the right to demand not to pay tax dollars that will be used to kill? I can only imagine how much I have paid in taxes over the past 50 years that have gone to our endless wars, and killed people.
I also believe that "that which you do to the least of my brothers; that you do unto me." Can I now direct my tax dollars to specifically go to programs that help "the least of my brothers and sisters?" Because of my religious beliefs can I pay for homeless shelters, food banks, schools, health care, unemployment and a myriad of other programs to help people instead of kill people? Interesting to consider.
