Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)
We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 7:00 am Eastern (and perhaps sometimes earlier!). Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the Auto Publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later: that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Volunteer in the comment threads.

Looking for inspiration this morning for a subject for MOT, I looked out my kitchen window and spotted a deer grazing in the field opposite. Now if you live in rural Kentucky, this might not be a big deal, but I live in the
biggest conurbation in Germany
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my garden has slow worms ( unfortunately my lawn mower chopped one up again last Friday), but one of the more unusual visitors I have seen is the critter in the video below. When I first saw him, I thought it was a fox, same color, bushy tail, but why the short legs?
Too big to be a weasel or a stoat, I finally got him ID'd.
Welcome to the Pine Marten - I only wish I could have got a photo of him.
While he looks kind of cute, apparently they have a nasty habit of chewing through hydraulic brake hoses, so if you see one under your car, it's a good idea to chase him away.
