Yes, yesterday Apple released the iPhone 6, and today is International Eat an Apple Day. How are you celebrating? By eating an apple, I hope.
The apple is definitely my favorite fruit. I literally do eat an apple a day. My morning routine consists of taking a walk around my neighborhood, stopping at Kroger halfway through the walk, and buying an apple to eat on the way home. Often an apple is all I'll eat for breakfast. I'll eat just about any variety--even Granny Smith when I'm in the mood. But my favorite is the amazing freshness and flavor explosion of the Honeycrisp (the almost $4/pound is ridiculous, but I'm always willing to pay it). The only apple I won't touch is the Red Delicious, which is certainly red but anything but delicious. I typically only eat apples raw, but I mean, who doesn't love a hot slice of apple pie or an apple crisp?
What's your favorite apple? Favorite way to eat apples? Kibitz below, but first, an infographic on apples from the Mother Nature Network with almost everything you need to know about the star of today's holiday...

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
