Haven't seen this online but I thought a bit of good news would be good. After Barbara Comstock (R) was elected to Congress for the VA 10, she had to resign her State House seat and the Special Election to fill out the remainder of the term was held yesterday. It has been widely written about how we don't turn out in off year elections and to make it even worse we had a freak snow storm that caused huge problems, those that are twitter followers have seen the #closefcps. But we were able to pull it off with Kathleen Murphy ,who ran against Comstock in 2013 and lost 50.6% to 49.2%, won out over Craig Parisot by 51-48. It should be noted that Comstock won this seat in 2009 during the disaster that was the Creigh Deeds campaign for Governor and only won reelection in 2011 with 54%. This district ,which encompasses Fairfax as a major part of it and also goes into Loudoun, went for team blue in the last statewide elections for Governor, Lt. Governor, and State Attorney. Obama carried it twice as well. Murphy will have to turn around quickly as she will be up for reelection this coming November. This is a seat that we should be able to maintain for a while if we do our job at the local level.
