Well, enough is enough. Israel's ambassador to the United States is an American-born former Republican operative, Ron Dermer, who once worked with Frank Luntz and who was involved in the Republican's Contract on America back in 1994, which of course ultimately led to the partisan and unsuccessful impeachment of President Clinton.
Now it turns out that Mr. Dermer, having immigrated to Israel, and getting himself appointed back to this country as a diplomat, is still meddling with partisanship in Congress, having been involved in setting up his new master's pending address to that august body, without first going through the Administration, as both the Constitution of the United States, which gives the president the duty and the right to conduct the foreign affairs of our country, as well as diplomatic protocol.
Here's the money quote from the NYT:
In a telephone interview late Wednesday, Mr. Dermer said, “I have no regrets whatsoever that I have acted in a way to advance my country’s interests.” He said he never meant to slight the White House by keeping the confidence of the House speaker, who had suggested the invitation. He said he left it to Mr. Boehner to notify Mr. Obama’s team.
Well, this ding-dong is not advancing the interests of Israel, because I hardly think that those would be furthered by this sort of insult. He's not a lobbyist anymore, and if he wants to become one, again, he can do it in back in Israel, who ought to send someone who is more, uh ...
diplomatic.
Or at least suspend Mr. Dermer's diplomatic plates on his car, that way he has to pay for parking. Then he'll KNOW we mean business.
