Officer Joel Edouard making the arrest.
Brooklyn police officers allegedly saw Jahmil-El Cuffee sitting on a bench and rolling a joint. They went in to make an arrest and when Cuffee protested, one officer got a little out of control. With several officers holding Cuffee on the ground, Officer Joel Edouard walked up and stomped on his head in front of a crowd of onlookers, including one bystander who
got it on video.
Watch Officer Edouard brazenly stomp on the man's head in front of a growing (and angry) crowd:
Prosecutors are
moving forward with a case against the officer:
Officer Joel Edouard, 37, will be arraigned Tuesday in Brooklyn Supreme Court on an assault charge for kicking Jahmil-El Cuffee after he was wrestled to the ground by cops in Bedford-Stuyvesant last July, according to the source.
“Help me! Help me!” Cuffee, 32, can be heard yelling on the video. “I didn’t do nothing.”
Cuffee was arrested on a variety of charges, but all
charges have been dismissed.
Meanwhile, Officer Edouard is on desk duty and faces a year in jail if convicted.
