Come oh come ye tea-thirsty restless ones -- the kettle boils, bubbles and sings, musically. ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Good evening, Kibitzers! My family typically gathers over the Christmas holiday at my brother's, in the greater Boston area. The day after this past Christmas, the weather was mild (giving no hint of its plans for later in the winter!), so we went to visit the lovely Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA, a 206-acre working farm and wildlife sanctuary run by Mass Audubon. (The Massachusetts Audubon Society is independent of, and predates, the National Audubon Society, but they are on the same page.)
At Drumlin Farm, you can experience life on a working farm and explore a wildlife sanctuary at the same time. Watch the pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, and cows in the farmyard; see how crops are sustainably grown; walk the trails to observe plants and animals in their native settings; and observe resident owls, foxes, and even a fisher in native wildlife exhibit.
A two-minute history of the farm and its eponymous
drumlin:
That December day, it wasn't growing season at the farm and there was too much commotion for wildlife, but follow me below the orange bramble for some photos I took, mostly of the farm animals.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
