Today's her birthday. She doesn't really believe she'll get anything she demands, but she does seem to feel she has the right to demand it. I'm told that a visit to a comic book store is on the agenda, and to a pinball arcade. There may also be a visit to the hairdresser involved. I am invited to the meal at Red Robin, but otherwise I will be babysitting the little guy who has a bit of a cold (he's three - that's his job).
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Her voice is definitely lower pitched than it used to be. She's hitting the tween years - gawd help us.
My daughter did some test-driving on Thursday. She made up her mind as to exactly what vehicle she wanted rather faster than I had thought possible, so I took off work a bit early and went to my bank for a cashier's check for the down payment. And ended up babysitting for her and the guy who went with her to help intimidate the salesman (he's a sweetie, but he's also a construction worker, and can huff up nicely) since his wife had to work. They went back and she got her new car that night. His 4-year-old son fell off my granddaughter's bed (top bunk) not long before he arrived to get his kids - I stopped the kid crying by cuddling him a bit and then telling him stories about the silly things my daughter did when she was about his age.
I have decided I will probably let the firstborn live since, now that all the financial stuff is settled, she's calmed down and stopped reminding me forcibly of the time I should have filed for divorce because her father was screaming at me that it was all my fault that his mother did something to him a full three years before I ever even heard of him.
She gave me a ride to the chiropractor (next month, I drive myself) yesterday and we went to Powell's in Beaverton after and then did grocery shopping. I haven't got everything I need, but the rest of it I usually buy somewhere other than WinCo anyway.
My buddy downbuilding says he's almost 100% certain to get his job back if he accepts the deal that will be offered to him. He'll hear what said deal is next Tuesday, I think. He says he will most likely take it and work for the rest of the year and then find himself a less physically dangerous job till he's entirely ready to retire.
I heard from a college roommate on Wednesday that she was scheduled for surgery the following day to deal with a problem she's had the whole time I've known her. The following day, I heard from her again - that the insurance company wanted her to do all the stuff she's already done (that hadn't worked), and that her doctor has sent them documentation on, before they would pay for the surgery. Apparently her surgeon was really pissed and won the argument with the beancounter in question. I heard from her again on Friday and she's scheduled for surgery on the 24th.
