Yep, you knew this was coming...no sooner had every single state officially announced an enrollment extension period (either "full" or "standing in line by midnight") than a few states started issuing special "Tax Season" enrollment periods, ostensibly limited to those who had to pay the 2014 penalty, didn't get covered in time for 2015 and officially "didn't know" about the penalty (although that last point is awfully hard to prove).
By the end of the day we went from 3 states having announced official #ACATaxTime periods to 42 states, and I'm pretty sure the remaining 9 will cave on this point within the next few days.
In addition, another batch of official enrollment period data came out yesterday or today, leaving just 2 states which haven't updated their numbers to include the big Surge Weekend: Connecticut (which is only missing the final weekend) and Idaho, which still hasn't said a peep since way back on January 17th.
CT might have racked up perhaps 5-10K over the final weekned, while Idaho's month-plus gap could end up adding as much as 40K to the grand total, but otherwise the total exchange QHP tally as of 2/15/15 was roughly 11.63 million (minus the 200K "legal residency" cancellations which caused some confusion the other day). As of tonight I estimate the grand total to be around 11.67 million (after the 200K reduction).
Here's the hard number updates...
--Massachusetts: 134K confirmed QHPs, 81% paid; 260K Medicaid
—Kentucky: 103K QHPs, 56K Medicaid
--Oregon: OFF-exchange QHPs finally slip behind HC.gov enrollments, but still 47% of total
—The Red and The Blue (Follow-up)
(updated again with today's additions from Massachusetts & Kentucky)
--By the Numbers: 2015 State by State Comparisons
(updated again with today's additions from Massachusetts & Kentucky)
And then we have the extension/tax season enrollment period updates...including a rather embarrassing sidebar from HC.gov:
—UPDATED: BOOM: HC.gov announces #ACATaxTime Enrollment Period (oh, and about those 1095-A forms...)
—#ACATaxTime: California makes 41 states to announce tax season enrollment period
--#ACATaxTime: New York becomes 42nd state to offer tax season enrollment period
--#ACATaxTime: Tax Season Enrollment Period Roundup (Update x3)
--#ACAOvertime: No Sleep 'til Brooklyn: Deadline Extension Roundup (UPDATE x9)
And finally, here's The Graph, tidied up a bit and completely up to date through tonight (click below for full-sized version):
