I just can't take it anymore. At the risk of behaving like a total crank, I sat down for awhile last night and vented my frustrations at the most recent in a string of Congressional Republican hooliganisms, by banging out this little rant to the attention of Senator Tom Cotton (R - Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Haliburton), architect of this week's Rethug assault on the Iranian peace negotiations. I share it with you, my fellow Kossacks...for whatever cathartic value it might have for you as well.
Subject: Republican Warmongering, Sabotage of US Foreign Policy
Dear Senator Cotton:
I understand that you are the genius who masterminded the treasonous letter recently sent to the leaders of Iran by 47 Republican members of the US Senate. In doing so, you have just attempted an astonishingly brazen power grab, with a reckless and dangerous violation of established foreign policy protocol unprecedented in American history, while very likely violating the separation of powers requirements contained in the US Constitution.
And now it appears that you and your Republican cohorts have just been publicly schooled by the Foreign Minister of Iran, Dr. Javad Zarif, who obviously knows far more about the US Constitution and international law than you and all of your co-conspirators put together. If you had any sense of decency, you would all be hanging your heads in shame and humiliation at this time. But something tells me that you're still too full of your own hubris and too poisoned by Obama hatred to get it - even now.
However I and millions of my fellow citizens ARE embarrassed. We're embarrassed because of the atrocious actions of you and your cabal of political saboteurs and hostage takers. And we're ashamed of you - all of you - for the serious damage that you continue to inflict upon our country.
It's time for you to cease your treacherous warmongering, and start to put the interests of America and her people ahead of the profits and power of the defense contractors you serve. Do you consider yourself to be a patriot, Senator Cotton? Prove it. Don't tell us - show us. Show us that you're capable of behaving like something more than just another pathetic, craven little puppet of the military-industrial complex. Show us that you're capable of stepping up to become a real statesman.
We're waiting, Senator. So is your place in history. Surprise us.
