Across the country new legislation is being introduced to remove any and all exemptions, whether they be religious or philosophical, to vaccine mandates. Unfortunately, because vaccines are such an emotional topic for people, I fear that most are too focused on this one piece of the larger issue and don't see the "forest through the trees".
It doesn't matter if you accept or reject vaccine science, or are somewhere in the middle; regardless of your political beliefs, whether they be Republican, Democrat, Tea Party, Independent, or Progressive; whether you are White, Black, Hispanic, or Asian; if you are rich, poor, or middle class; the big picture is about forcing medical procedures on people.
Some will probably call me a conspiracy nut, but if you think this type of legislation is a good idea, answer these questions:
Do you believe that Government and Big Pharma should make medical decisions for you and your family?
Is it Government and Big Pharma's responsibility to keep you and your family as healthy as possible? Or is it yours?
Do you believe Big Pharma's priorities align with your best interests?
Is informed consent still applicable to medical treatment?
Do you think Government and Big Pharma will be content with only mandating vaccinations for your children? Or, will they come for the adults next as new "customers"?
Do you really think Government and Big Pharma will stop at vaccines?
Does this latest "outbreak" of less than 200 Measles cases, in a country with a population over 300,000,000 people, really warrant this reaction?
Is forcing someone to undergo a medical procedure against their will really a Progressive stance?
Does your freedom extend into someone else's body?
Removing all religious and philosophical exemptions for vaccines is a step on the slippery slope of forcing people to have medical procedures performed on them. If bills like CA SB 277, which will remove all exemptions to vaccines (for all children in California, whether public, private, charter, or home schooled), becomes law it will set a dangerous precedent and make it that much easier to mandate any other medical procedure with no exemptions.
I, for one, am not ready to give up the freedom to choose what medical procedures I think are best suited for my family and me.
Are you?
