Marian Reekie tries on her grandson's invention
Marian Reekie suffers from macular degeneration. She has lost her central vision as a result. She even went to Denver to find special glasses to help fix her vision—the problem is those glasses cost $15,000.
"I could make some of those," was her grandson's reply.
"I had faith he could do it because he's very clever," Reekie said.
With the help of a Kickstarter campaign, Christopher raised $4,726 for his invention, Magniglass. He says most of that money was spent on a 3-D printer to create the device.
He created Magniglass. According to the report, Christopher won his school's science fair. More importantly, he's helped his grandmother regain the ability to see the faces of her loved ones.
Christopher said since he went public with the invention, interest has poured in from all over the world. He says there is still work to be done to perfect and patent the product. His goal is to mass produce Magniglass and make it affordable, possibly around $1,500 apiece.
Just amazing.
