As Gov. Scott Walker moves closer to a formal announcement that he will run for president, the latest Marquette University Law School poll shows Walker's job approval rating among Wisconsin voters has slipped since last fall.
Meanwhile, Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson distantly trailed former Democratic U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold in a matchup. Johnson had 38%, and Feingold had 54%.
Johnson unseated Feingold in 2010. Feingold hasn't announced his plans but is widely expected to run again.
For Walker, the results of the poll released on Thursday of registered voters show 41% approved of the way he is handling the job as governor, while 56% disapprove.
The poll of 803 respondents was conducted between April 7 and April 10 and included both landlines and cellphones.
The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points for most questions. The margin of error was more than 5 percentage points for questions that dealt with a subset of voters, such as only Republican- or Democratic-leaning voters. - Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, 4/16/15
We need Feingold back in the Senate now more than ever. He's been quietly working on making a comeback and it looks like Wisconsin voters truly do miss him. Stay tuned.
