I am a nobody, but I come from a middle class family that has seen friends and family lose jobs, every time a new trade agreement is passed. You say that the TPP will help the middle class. Please let the American People see it and have time to debate it. I come from a generation that is the first that is not doing as well as my parents. My children have a long struggle ahead of them. They are in their twenties and already burdened with student debt that will make their struggle harder than mine. They did not have the choice, There are no longer any well paying blue collar jobs available unless you have a college education. This is what other trade deals have done. They have moved all the good manufacturing jobs overseas.
By giving corporations the right to arbitrate grievances against government, you take away American sovereignty. While I know this letter has no chance of changing anything in the TPP, please release the details. If this trade agreement is as beneficial as you purport it to be, let the American people see it and side with you. I cry for my childrens future. We have already left them a damaged planet, can we please leave them a county that has the chance to be great again? Please no more secret deals, we are not at war with the countries we are proposing this trade deal with, so why the concealment? All I want is the transparency in government you promised.
We have seen time and time again where corporations with deep pockets lead, and the government follows. If Senator Warren and Senator Sanders tell me this deal will hurt the middle class I tend to believe them. The fact the republicans support this trade agreement, is enough in itself to give me pause. They have been against everything you have proposed that could have strengthened the middle class. If this is the agreement the choose to finally work with you instead of against you, that alone tells me the TPP needs to be public. There is too much money working behind the scenes and pulling strings. Please release the details of this agreement. You won this election running the best grassroots campaign in history. We all helped together to raise money that sometimes equaled the amount given by single donors to your opponent. You promised Hope and Change we could believe in. Now please let us see it.
