Monday! No, not my crutches :)
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

A friend of mine recently had the misfortune to fall down a wet hill while wearing 4" heels. She didn't admit it, but I suspect that she may have been...not entirely sober. Okay, completely blotto. Otherwise, I am sure that she would have taken her shoes off.
I was unable to get the full story of WHY she was on a wet hill in 4" heels, or details of the rest of her outfit, so I must leave that rather pertinent information somewhere in the ether. My apologies. I am sure that it must be an interesting story, which is probably why she refused to share. It may safely be assumed that the heels were NOT all that she was wearing, as the nights are still cold in Colorado. Then again, one never knows.
Anyway, she broke two bones in her right foot and tore a ligament or two. She's in a walking cast and needs crutches for the next three months. The crutches are the standard ugly aluminum McKessons. My friend is terribly stylish, so....she asked me to "bling" her crutches. I'm a creative type :)
So she went to the dreaded Hobby Lobby (yes, I did express my disapproval in no uncertain terms, but she claimed that they had everything that she needed and was appropriately penitent) and bought fuzzy leopard fabric, feather boas, wired pearls, and pink leopard ribbon.
Cattus Minor and I arrived at her apartment with all the craft glue that I had on hand. This is what greeted us:
The raw materials
I looked at everything and started to play with them.
And this is the final result:
The things with feathers :)
Simply too funny. And not something that I would make for myself, but she loved them and so did a LOT of people on Facebook when we posted the pictures of us and Cattus Minor with the crutches :)
One of my friends wrote, "Great, now I'm headed outside to fling myself off the deck and break a leg so that you can make some of these for me." I politely suggested that she not do that :)
So that was my Friday night :)
I'm still cleaning, decluttering, and redecorating the house. I painted two picture frames silver for my bedroom, and am going to paint all the dresser hardware silver, too. Hopefully, I will stop there :) Or run out of paint.
What have you been up to?
