The big piece on Last Week Tonight yesterday evening was a thing of brilliance. It delved into just how much it sucks to be a chicken farmer. Yes - there have been a lot of stories about just how deplorable conditions are for the chickens themselves on these farms, but I've never seen any piece on what the average chicken farmer has to endure in order to make a living. Until now.
The label referenced in the title of my post comes toward the end of the piece where John brings up the fact that the House Appropriations Committee will soon be voting on changes to legislation that will make things somewhat better for chicken farmers. Attempts had been made before to pass the same amendment, but the GOP chair of the committee killed it and it died there. So now that the amendment has come up again for voting John is urging folks to contact those reps on the committee and if they vote against it he's suggesting that they be labeled "chicken f*ckers". He provides names and faces and their districts on screen as the credits role so people know who these people are.
As I said, this is a brilliant piece and well worth taking the time to watch.
