This is less of a diary and more of a gloat. The picture above is of a storefront in an immigrant-heavy area of metro Atlanta in, yes, Georgia. The state where our governor not only refused to accept Medicare expansion, but got the legislature to take away the power of the governor to unilaterally accept it (so if he was followed by a Democrat the people were still screwed). The Obamacare moniker was meant, as we all know, to be a pejorative, to saddle the ACA with the name of the President as a way to make it too foul to consider. This seemed to work for awhile, with states trying to avoid the term (see: Kynect), but I believe that time has passed. I mean, really, someone spent money on a light up sign, with the express intention to draw people in! People who will, as they become citizens and have citizen children, remember who brought them the insurance they previously lacked, and what political party he represents. And this is probably the name that will be associated with it, even when (!) it evolves into single-payer.
So thank you, Republicans. Pleases give a bonus to the mean-spirited political toady who thought this term up.
