The three Democratic candidates for the PA Supreme Court won convincingly. This has huge implications. It means that the extreme gerrymandering in Pennsylvania will likely end with the next redistricting.
The change in the boundaries of the legislative districts will take place after the 2020 census. The first election that will be affected will be the one held in the fall of 2022. In the previous redistricting decade (2003..2012), the number of Congressional seats held by Dems ranged from 6 to 12 out of 19. Presently, Dems hold 5 out of 18 or 28%. And this in a state which in 2012 elected Obama with 52% of the vote.
The primary reason for this win is that lots of the Indies and RINOs did not like the extreme gerrymandering, so they voted with the Dems for the Dem candidates for the Supreme Court. The vote for the Supreme Court was much higher than those for the other local and county races. Turnout state-wide was low, less than 30%.
