Pushback.
This is why I like Daily Kos. That ideas are not carved in stone; unlike the GOP and many minor parties' own blogging Websites, this one welcomes all sorts of ideas (but demands that you defend them).
My last diary is certainly an example of that.
I welcome all sorts of commentary, including that which does not agree with me. I don't want a cheering section. I cannot either learn of others' opinions nor weigh their value if I do not hear (or in this case read) them.
I received a private E-mail (off-site); the writer was concerned I was receiving unwarranted pushback. I noted to the writer the same as I have written above: I do not wish to participate in a forum where there is a hive-mind mentality. I want to hear differing opinions.
Ya got a beef with anything I write? By all means, tell me what it is. I want to hear it. (I believe that was the first time anything I wrote here got any sort of serious pushback, as I don't really hold forth with opinions in my diaries, including that one.)
Sharing ideas to improve those ideas or come up with better ones is what this place seems to be about. Those spirited discussions is what drew me in to Kos in the first place.
