President Obama has just opened parts of the Atlantic seaboard for oil drilling and exploration. This sounds bad but let's think a little deeper into it. Down the line we could easily turn any offshore drilling rig into a platform on which to post windmills AND we could also use the base of the rig itself to harness tidal energy. Why not also make parts of the base have solar panels on them. They will be sitting in the ocean all day anyway. Is there a way to use the support system of the oil rig, which is touching the sea floor, to collect geothermal energy?
I'm brainstorming ideas for solutions to Climate Change and oil dependency.
