Short and sweet because I know you'll be pleased:
Cleveland’s Fox 8 said this week that it had taken anchor Kristi Capel off of her normal morning show duties after she used a racial slur on the air.
On Monday, co-anchor anchor Wayne Dawson had been reporting the Oscars when Capel had said that she appreciated Lady Gaga’s Sound of Music tribute because it did not sound like her normal “jigaboo music.”
She did issue the standard non-pology:
“I apologize if I offended you, I had no idea it was a word or what it meant. Thank you for watching,”
She, an alleged 'journalist' did not know what a word meant?
Really?
Now....don't get your hopes up that this was some good thing done by a FOX outlet: it appears she met with some church people and they are going to whitewash this escapade:
“This incident has prompted thousands of social media comments and emails from across the viewing area and the nation. Unlike many who have commented, co-anchor Wayne Dawson and many of us at Fox 8 have the advantage of knowing Kristi Capel personally and her work in our community,” the station’s statement said on Wednesday. “It is for that reason that we join with the pastors she met with on Tuesday to begin the process of forgiveness and healing.”
Per the linked report the parent company of the station has "aggressively' pursued stopping copies of the video of the anchor using the offending term from being posted online using digital media/copyright complaints.
If this was a black eye, it'd be a shiner.
This is a great example of a "FOX-up": a mistake made by FOX that was either completely intentional, such as labeling the Republican Scandal du jour a "Democrat' on their screen crawl, or airing picture of Obama during report on 'rape suspect', or something like this incident where they same something utterly outrageous and proceed to deny it or apologize themselves into a hole. Doubtlessly the pulling of the video is in preparation for future lying about it.
So.... it's an Official FOX-up™.
