Let me be clear. I don't do this often. I'm a grandmother not a writer. I just looked up the definition of "candidate" on my i-phone because I'm a bit lazy at this point and cherry picked the definition I wanted. It's the third one.
candidate: a person who is deserving of or seems destined for a certain end or fate.
I believe Hillary would herself choose the third option. I believe she thinks she is destined to become our next President or certainly thinks she deserves it. I do not.
I cannot forgive her for her vote on the Iraq war. She bought the nonsense, just like anyone and almost everyone else. I was just looking at her 2002 C-Span video where she was giving her justification speech and it was the same pablum everyone was spewing on our t.v. screens in those days. There was nothing to distinguish herself here. I believe we need real leadership. I can't find it here.
I recall the days she was debating with John Edwards, remember him? They were a bit cozier then. It was after one of these debates that Mr Edwards,I believe, suggested they find a way to eliminate some of the other people in the debate. In other words, narrow the competition and Hillary seemed more than interested. In fact, she mentioned that her people had already been musing about this and I paraphrase here. This would be quite advantageous to the two of them, but what about the democratic process of giving everyone a voice? This was not a concern for Hillary, apparently. Most people may have forgotten this, but I did not. I found it to be a defining moment. It showed a lack of integrity, in my opinion. This, again, was not leadership. It was self-serving. It was desperation. It was expedient. All bad qualities to have in the White House.
It's been a few years now and she has gone on to other things. Some would argue bigger and better things. She has had her tenure as Secretary of State and this surely was a responsible position. I thought now she must have had the experience she needed to give me what I needed to cast my vote for her. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm not sure which, I have been saved from this decision. I have decided nothing has changed. She has simply brought her unique brand of expediency to whatever she is doing. I'm not a writer, a scholar, etc. However, remember, I am a voter. She wants my vote. This is what my vote cost. Integrity. Honor. Honesty. I was watching something on t.v. awhile back and saw her, well, let me show you: https://www.youtube.com/...
I want to say I watch this news program quite regularly. It is a rather good program, quite informative. Needless to say, I was dismayed. I still am and I cannot vote for her. This is why I have titled my piece THE NON CANDIDATE. Not only does Hillary think she deserves and believes she will have the White House, I know she is not a candidate for me.
