About a half-dozen men were arrested Sunday in Minnesota and California on suspicion of supporting ISIS, law enforcement sources told NBC News.
One of the officials stressed that the men weren't suspected of plotting attacks inside the U.S. "There was no danger," this official said.
Most of the arrests were in Minneapolis, sources said, while a relative of one of the men was arrested in San Diego. Most apparently were members of the Somali community.
Local community workers have told NBC News that terrorist groups including ISIS, al-Qaeda and al-Shabab have been recruiting young men from Minnesota's Somali community — the largest in the country — for quite some time.
