My family have been working class Democrats since the days of FDR. Although my father and I agree on most issues, we have split on the issue of backing Bernie in the Democratic primary. I plan on voting for Bernie. My father, although he agrees with Bernie on the issues, won't back him because he feels there is no way he can win the general and we would just be handing the White House to the Republicans. He says that it is unrealistic of me to think that a Socialist can win the White House. I share my fathers' concerns. When we cast our votes we are making investments in the future. There are basically two kinds of investments, safe low yield, and risky high yield. All of us in the Democratic Party are going to have to decide what type of investor we. Are we willing to roll the dice and risk it all by voting for Bernie? We will either win big or lose big if Bernie gets the nomination. I must admit that the thought of Bernie winning the nomination scares me a little, my father could very easily be right. The right wing nut jobs like to call Obama a Socialist, Bernie is the real deal. The Republicans will portray him as Stalin. Hillary is the safe bet, she is the favorite. Bernie is the long shot. It will be a heavy lift to put him in the White House. Can we do it? I honestly don't know. But I am willing to try. I don't think that Hillary will save us, but Bernie just might. It is all on us. We stand at the turning point. The hell with settling for a first down. I say go deep, right into the end zone. But if we end up with another Bush in the White House then it is on me, my fault. I don't want to start a pie fight as I have no doubt that both Bernie and Hillary backers have the best interests of the Party and the country at heart. What type of investor are you? Feel the Bern.
