Right wing "rags" have called out House GOP leadership -Republicans Who Openly Refuse to Admit if They’ve Read Obamatrade.
Not having read it one has to assume - but still eager to vote for fast track despite some talk of primary opponents for doing so, it seems. They’re hardly the only ones refusing to admit whether they’ve read the bill. Marco Rubio (R-FL) who voted for it in the U.S. Senate after making it a centerpiece of his presidential campaign, has repeatedly refused over the past month plus to answer whether he’s made it to the room to read the TPP text - along with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Even Boehner (R-OH) has refused repeatedly through spokesman Matt Wolking to answer whether he read the TPP text, but he still supports Obamatrade.
If you have contacted your representative and "urged" their no vote on fast-tracking, did you ask if they have read the text of the TPP? I have called my Republican congressman, both on Tuesday and again today and staff still does just not know if Gus Bilirakis has even bothered to read it.
So hard to know what your boss is up to when he is gone for hours from the office, isn't it?
It would seem that if a rep had done the hard job of going all the way down to that special basement room and only being allowed to read one portion of the text at a time (and man, that is really hard work) that is something they would want known to their voters. And not having that answer from my rep, I can only think that Gus Bilirakis is one of those who hasn't.
Obama and his GOP allies launch big effort to win trade fight in the House
Carrots seemingly working better than sticks, Hey, a free trip aboard Air Force One to Germany! Yeah! With the President! Who are the lucky Democrats?
President Obama opened an intense final round of lobbying to win support for his sweeping Pacific Rim trade accord ahead of a crucial vote in the House as soon as next week, expressing confidence that he will overcome deepening skepticism among fellow Democrats.
The push from the president included direct calls to lawmakers, interviews with television stations in key states and plans to bring several Democrats aboard Air Force One with him to a summit in Germany this weekend.
It may well be that the fix is in. There was a comment, Tasini's I think, that he was told that Steny Hoyer said he was a no vote on fast-track, but behind the scenes was whipping for yes votes.
"Our Leaders" are keeping track of our positions, so they say. I am not willing to throw in the towel - and I hope you are not either. The vote on fast-track in the house has not yet been scheduled, so there is time, perhaps next week is last I heard.
Burn up those phone lines. If we do have to go down, (and I hope that is not the case) let's do it fighting all the way. Find your rep here, tell them to vote no on fast-track and ask if they have read the text of the TPP......http://www.house.gov/...
One voice speaking out against fast-track and the TPP, with reason and passion.....
