If you don't know me, I can be vague in a reach exceeds my grasp kind of way, so here goes ...
Bernie's policy focus and internal consistency, as a human being, presents any listener with an immediate opportunity to go along with their better nature ... IF ...
If what people hear when Bernie speaks are things they agree with, they might find it in their hearts to be swayed by their own enthusiasm. I believe this ties into what is called "retail politics." It's not that you buy people's vote, but the good retail politician (e.g., Ed Koch): advocates and believes in things that enjoy a broad base of support, pushes themselves personally to get out there and be a public person, actually goes where people can meet and greet, touch or hug or pat. What I remember, correctly I hope, is that this all leads up to first you introduce yourself and your platform, then you have a warm handshake and engage with the individual one-to-one, and then you ask them for their vote.
So now the Hil-Bern mantra re my allegiances: Hillary will always have a special place in my heart, but I have a big heart that includes Alexander Haig, who I thought was a cute top soldier. I expect to vote for Hillary in the general election 2016 and I expect her to serve 8 great years that owe a debt to our president Barack Obama, who I think has saved the U.S. from utter disaster and been a better steward than she could have been in 2009. Like my support for John Edwards right up until he imploded, I am with Bernie 100% for now. Aside from my vote and my money, I'm kind of also with Hillary, but it's sentimental and it's not 100%. And she is all bankster-pally. I don't hold that against her in general. But Bernie's support includes anti-TPP extremists and Occupy people. I get that Hillary is way too Davos for them.
I've recently been sucked into a weird consideration of the south that is in my two previous diaries, but please skip over the details for now (I have a good reason to say that but it's embargoed). My point is about racists who perpetuate racism in the south parent-to-child and through local institutions if they exist, usually including LEOs. I've been looking at the world through their eyes a little because it is vicarious fun for me, like pretending to be a monster. But my feelings about being human are that we do not need to pretend to be monsters because the majority of us already are semi-wonderful monsters. That's why the better nature thing matters, because people can choose to behave well.
I say the south can vote for Bernie in a way the south would never consider voting for a lifelong Democrat. His otherness is Jewish and folks had time to get used to Joe Lieberman. The same people who disagree with around half of Bernie's platform regularly admire his intellectual consistency. In that sense, FACE IT: Bernie is like Sarah Palin. Paul Krugman regularly refers to times he was wrong. Bernie does not seem to need to do that very often. He's kind of a brick. And anyone who talks so endlessly and so well without just repeating things (unless intentionally) is at least honest about liking to talk and liking to run for elections. And Bernie is very good at running.
Of course we know what to expect from Latino voters 2016. The GOP has just black-ified the Latino vote so it might never get as high as 90% Democratic Party but it is going UPPP like Trump.
As for banksters and their VIP money ... well we all know we're in deep doo-doo on Citizens United and it is just weird that Feingold bears any blame at all, but like the military, banksters make up their own minds. There is a wide variety of personality types among the very rich (they can afford it). While some big money will go against Bernie like EEK A RAT! and that same big money might like Hillary better and hope she could be the American Margaret Thatcher, at least in war, Bernie can raise money. Obama raised money differently. Bernie will find a way, he already has millions of dollars to get started (and he's just getting started). But the Bernie versus Hillary race is not what matters because the platform is our future, pretty clearly. Climate change / energy. Banksters including international development and hot spots (a natural trinity). Getting America to work so investors can get rich again, without being carrion birds. Fixing our tax system and ending regulatory capture to the extent that enforcement operations run smoothly, recovering more money than they cost (per usual) and NOT getting sequestered or cut in the federal budget. Plenty of money people will not have to hold their noses to believe in Bernie. FACE IT. If the average dailykos type had $100 million, they at least MIGHT think their money would grow best under Bernie. Some money men will go for Bernie (maybe some money women too -- they have always existed).
Speaking of typical I realize this diary is self-indulgent fantasy poppycock and that's why Hillary will roll all over Bernie (just like???). It's just how I feel, and it's actually what I think.
Hmmm. Did I miss anything?
